William Leslie Josslin was born in Portland, Oregon, on March 13, 1905. He was admitted to the Oregon State Bar in 1930, and began pacticing law in Portland. He served as deputy district attorney of Multnomah County, Oregon in 1932 (temporary appointment) and was associated with the firm of Wood, Montague, Matthiessen & Rankin (1933-34).
